The Telegraph: Manchester United are not putting pressure on the club to re-sign the 19-year-old Menu player after the summer break

May 26 - According to the Telegraph, Manchester United are likely to wait until the end of the summer transfer window to sign a new contract with Menu。

Menu highlighted his budding talent with a superb goal and man-of-the-match performance in Manchester United's 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City。The 19-year-old midfielder's performance has been the biggest bright spot in what has been a lacklustre season for United。

United signed Menu on a three-year contract in February 2023, which runs until June 2026。United plan to give Menu a new contract to reflect his growing status and importance in the team。

But it is understood that given the amount of work United still have to do in the interim to try and rebuild the squad, most likely under a new manager, the bulk of those contract extension talks are not expected to take place until after the summer window closes on August 30。

The Menu side also felt relaxed about the situation, did not put a lot of pressure on the club side, and the relationship between the two parties is good。

Menu's existing contract is understood to include a series of built-in trigger clauses linked to appearances and other factors, which have seen his salary increase throughout the season。

Despite missing the first four months of the season with an ankle injury sustained in pre-season, Menou has made a number of starts this season and his appearance at Wembley was his 29th for the club this season。

England coach Gareth Southgate watched Menu's game against Manchester City from the stands。Menu has been named by Southgate in his 33-man squad for this summer's European Championship and is expected to make the final 26-man squad。

Southgate must decide whether he feels Menu is ready to start alongside Rice in midfield in Germany。England will play Serbia on June 16。

Menu has already scored some spectacular goals of considerable difficulty against Wolves, Liverpool and Newcastle United, and his calm finish against Manchester City was another example of his finishing quality, as well as a superb team effort。
